Why not just keep Mailchimp?
Mailchimp is excellent at selling things. It has no approval gate, no accessibility check on the email it sends, a seat limit on the plans offices buy, and an archive that leaves with the account. One keystroke in its editor can break the layout. Pressroom was built for the opposite case: nothing goes out unapproved, every issue is checked, and the record is public and permanent. The same holds for Constant Contact. Longer answer: Pressroom compared with what offices use today.
What if Pressroom disappears?
Everything exports at any time in a documented format, and your public archive is already on the open web. We are a small company and say so; the trust pages list what exists today (a security overview, a data processing agreement) and what is in preparation (a filled support commitment, a named backup operator, a public status page).
Is this more than we pay now?
Yes. A marketing tool costs an office a few thousand dollars a year; Pressroom starts at $4,500 and most district offices fit the $9,000 tier. The comparison is not the subscription; it is one accessibility complaint or one records request the office cannot answer.
Does it do texting, casework or a constituent database?
No. Pressroom is a newsletter platform. It does one thing an office’s newsletter needs and does not try to be the city’s casework system.
Can our whole team use it?
Yes. Roles for contributors, editors, publishers and administrators, and no seat limit.
Who can see what we write before it goes out?
Only your office. Each office is a separate workspace; nothing is shared between offices.
Is it accessible?
We check every issue before it sends and publish conformance reports for both the email and the application. The reports are self-assessed today and say plainly what still falls short; an independent audit is planned for early 2027. Read the product’s accessibility statement and reports on app.pressrooom.com.
Can we leave?
Yes, at any time. You export, confirm you have it, and we purge your workspace and send a receipt.
